FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT REMANUFACTURED CARTRIDGES

Are remanufactured cartridges inferior to new ones?
No. there should be no difference in the print quality or page yield of a remanufactured cartridge. All remanufactured toner cartridges use only graphics quality toner and go through our rigorous 7 - step quality assurance program. This includes: pre-testing, complete disassembly and cleaning, replacing worn and defective parts, photo-conductive drum removal with cleaning (and optional replacement), adding high quality graphics toner, final assembly and testing. Computer Related Services employees are specially trained in this technical profession and spend a great deal of time studying new technological advancements as they become available.

How does remanufacturing cartridges help the environment?
Remanufacturing both laser and ink jet cartridges reduces the amount of non-biodegradable plastic in landfills. Additionally, the manufacturing process used to create new cartridges depends heavily on fossil fuels, usually imported fossil fuels. That's why the EPA has mandated the use of remanufactured cartridges for all federal agencies. Each discarded empty laser printer cartridge adds approximately three pounds of unnecessary waste to our landfills. Waste that will take as long as 10 centuries to decompose. It is estimated that 100 million laser printer cartridges and 400 million ink jet printer cartridges are produced each year. Remanufacturing these 500 million cartridges will save an estimated 4 million cubic feet of landfill space. The office products remanufacturing industry has made, and will continue to contribute, a substantial positive impact upon the environment and the economy wherever it exists.

Can I really save money by using remanufactured cartridges?
Yes. As much as 40 to 60 percent, depending on the quantity of cartridges your company uses, your savings can amount to thousands of dollars each year.

In a word -- Education. The office products remanufacturing industry is relatively new. The industry is working diligently to educate the consumer about the value of remanufactured cartridges, and today more than 33 percent of all American businesses use remanufactured cartridges. Quite an accomplishment in just ten years. Will using a remanufactured cartridge void my warranty?
Absolutely not! In fact, any one who tells you that is in violation of the Moss-Magnuson Act.

Why should I buy a remanufactured cartridge instead of a new?
You can save 40-60% off the cost of brand names and you are protecting the environment by keeping unwanted plastic and waste out of our landfills. Also, cartridges sold to you as new by some manufacturers are actually remanufactured as well. Look at the bottom or side of your box. Some say "Made in Japan from the highest quality new and recycled materials" while others state "this newly manufactured product may contain parts and materials recovered from the HP Planet Partners Recycling Program" or Canon's "This cartridge may contain reconditioned parts". You're probably paying too much for what is actually a "recycled" cartridge that has been put back into fancy packaging.

How can I get dried ink out of my print head so I can print again?
Place the clogged cartridge in about 1/4 - 1/2 inch of warm water for a few minutes. When ink starts to slowly leak out, take the cartridge out of the water and dry it using a lint free soft cloth to "Q-tip." Then place it back in your printer and run the print head cleaning utility that comes with your printer software. You may have to run this 2-4 times before printing quality is re-established.

How should I handle my cartridge?
Never touch the electronic print head with any abrasive material. Use care when setting your cartridges down and do not place the print head in contact with any surface besides the printer.
