Recently, HP released another new firmware update, version 2313A, for the HP 972/976/981 series printers. It will ONLY affect compatible/remanufactured cartridges IF the firmware is installed. Therefore, we recommend that you disable the automatic firmware update feature on your printer.
When a notice pops up on the printer screen and prompts you to download the new firmware, please decline the update. Non-updated printers will continue to function normally. If you update the firmware, your non-HP cartridges may no longer work.

HP Pagewide Enterprise Color 556/MFP 586/ MFP Flow 586z
