Brother machine has separate consumable items: the toner cartridge and the drum unit. You do not need to replace the drum unit each time you replace the toner. Only replace the drum unit when:
- The printer asks for it
- You are getting lines and bad images on pages
Follow the steps below to replace the drum unit:
- Make sure the machine is turned on
- Open the front cover
3. Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly from the machine.
4. Push down the green lock lever and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit
5. Unpack the new drum unit.
6. Push the toner cartridge firmly into the new drum unit until you hear it lock into place. Make sure to put the toner cartridge in correctly or it may separate from the drum.
7. Install the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly back into the machine.
8. Close the front cover of the machine.
Please reset the drum counter!
When you replace the drum unit with a new one, you must reset the drum counter by completing the following steps for these models.
DCP-L2550DW, HL-L2390dw, MFC-L2690dw, MFC-L2710dw, MFC-L2717dw:
- Make sure the machine is turned on
- Close the front cover
- Press OK and the UP arrow key at the same time
- Press OK to select DRUM
- Press the UP arrow key to reset the drum counter
HL-L2325DW, HL-L2350dw, HL-L2370dw, HL-L2379dw:
- Make sure the machine is turned on
- Close the front cover
- Press OK and the UP arrow key at the same time
- Press OK to select DRUM
- Press the Down arrow key to reset the drum counter
